On Sunday, 25th May 2025, our young people from the Touch of Love (TOL) Dance Group took centre stage at Survival X, the 20th Anniversary Celebration of Hip-Hop School Scotland, and what a moment it was. Held in honour of two decades of hip-hop culture, movement, and creative youth expression, this incredible event brought together talented performers from across Scotland for a day filled with passion, rhythm, and unforgettable energy.
Our team was humbled and proud to be invited by the brilliant Ingrid Taylor, whose invitation gave our young dancers a chance to share their light on a bigger stage. And they did not disappoint.
Dance, Identity and Expression
Our Young Achievers stepped onto the stage wearing their vibrant cultural dance attire, a beautiful nod to their roots and heritage. Their performance was more than a series of steps - it was a celebration of identity and pride. With every move, they danced with purpose. The rhythm, joy, and unity that radiated from the stage was undeniable, and the cheers from the crowd said it all. It was one of those rare performances that connected deeply with the audience. It wasn’t just seen - it was felt.
These young dancers showcased that their identity, culture, and youth voice matter. That embracing who you are can be a powerful form of art.
Augustina Ezea, TOL Youth Worker and Dance Coach, reflected on the event:
“Watching our young people perform with such confidence and joy reminded me why we invest in them through arts and dance. Some of them had never danced in front of a crowd this size before, and yet they carried themselves with pride. They owned their story. They owned their space. This is what youth work is about - building confidence, nurturing talent, and helping young people feel seen.”
Thanks to the generous support of YouthLink Scotland and Creative Scotland, our Heritage Dance project has been able to provide safe, empowering spaces for young people to grow in confidence, express themselves creatively, and connect with their cultural backgrounds in meaningful ways.
More Than a Performance
For the young dancers of Touch of Love, this was a defining experience. It gave them the chance to feel part of something bigger. To be surrounded by other young people who love the arts. To be recognised and celebrated.
We are incredibly grateful to the organisers of Hip-Hop School Scotland for creating a platform where young voices are heard and where diversity is not just welcomed but celebrated.
To our dancers, we are so proud of each and every one of you. Your hard work, your energy, your courage - it inspired everyone in that room. Thank you for reminding us what can happen when young people are supported to thrive.
Here’s to more stages, more stories, and more steps forward. 💃🏽🕺🏽
